Set on a 2,200 sqm land parcel at Telok Ayer Street, the redevelopment of China Square Food Centre located within a commercial area is characterized by the surrounding historical houses. These conservation houses are rich in historical and architectural heritage that imparts a sense of identity. This existing heritage character of the neighbourhood is the key planning and design inspiration for the new development proposal.
The design aims to give a holistic approach of the new development to create a visual and commercial anchor at the end of the historic pedestrian street mall, complimenting the existing heritage and giving contrast with modern expression.
